Research and studies at the Institute of Geodesy focus on GNSS-based positioning and navigation, terrestrial gravimetry, geoid determination and the modelling of mass variations of the system Earth. Another main topic is the analysis of lunar laser ranging. Presently the development of new measurement concepts for the determination of the gravity field, in collaboration with physics, is becoming increasingly important.

Welcome Humboldt fellow Dr. Yan Shi
We welcome Dr. Yan Shi from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China who has been awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers. His host is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Beer, Executive Director of the Institute for Risk and Reliability.
Dr. Shi will join the Institute for Risk and Reliability for working on fundamentals of resilience of infrastructure systems. "In particular, we will focus on efficient numerical methods of reliability analysis and decision making for complex networks under hybrid uncertainties," says Prof. Beer.
